True stockmarket investment education. The Investment Academy is a series of 5 educational seminars about stockmarket investments, open to both Victoria university students and general public. It´s basically a crash-course about financial markets and stockmarket investments, designed for absolute beginners. Dates of the seminars: 11th March, 25th March, 15th April, 13th May, 27th May - all are Mondays, starting at 4pm @ Student union building, Kelburn Campus (Victoria university).

Topics of each seminar:
- 11th March - what is stockmarket, how does it work and main history, when and how is the best way to invest, what is the difference of shares and other investments (and what are the benefits), recommendation for good sources of information (websites, books, movies, successful investors, demo accounts). Introduction of the course participants and networking. This seminar starts at 5pm @ New Zealand Stock Exchange building (NZX, 11 Cable street, 1st floor, next to Te Papa museum).
- 25th March - basic investment strategies, most common investment mistakes, model portfolios (how to find the right balance for you), how to read annual reports and valuate companies
- 15th April - fundamental and technical analysis, automated systems vs common sense, high-frequency trading, bullet-proof investment rules, taxes from investing, analysis of the Mighty River Power share offer
- 13th May - complex investment tools (options, futures, ETFs and other derivatives) and when/how to use them, current market opportunities (emerging markets, global financial crisis, upcoming european debt crisis). A small homework for all participants (to pick their own portfolio and present it on the last seminar).
- 27th May - analysis of several companies on NZX, ASX and NYSE/NASDAQ, presentation of all portfolios and discussion around them.
